TRANSCENDING BORDERS THROUGH FILM
Our goal is to establish the city of Nogales as a cultural hub for filmmakers from across the U.S. and Mexico. We aim to shine a light on the twin cities of Nogales, Sonora/Arizona and bring film, art, and industry to its communities, creating an event that unites two countries under one ideal: to promote culture and art across both nations, using the border as a point of connection.
FILM ON THE FENCE
Our flagship “Film on The Fence” screening promotes unification through cinema, using both sides of the border wall as projection screens for the same film, creating a feeling of one theater across both nations, uniting two audiences with one cinematic experience and erasing social and political boundaries through film.
Film on the Fence has been the pinnacle of Borderland Film Festival, and will also be the main attraction for Nogales International Film Fest
through cinema and art. Every year, people have gathered to use the wall as a way to portray their art, and thanks to filmmakers and the people of both sides of Nogales, we can use this wall to project our spotlight film, integrating both Nogales in one place, as both sides can share an experience of no borders.
